| The swimming pool is 15 x 4.6 meters, plenty large enough to get some exercise. It was blasted into solid granite, that provides a natural terrace at one end, under the shade of a tamarind tree. The pool is located in front of the house, with both a dowstairs terrace and an upstairs terrace overlooking it and the valley beyond. Teak tables and chairs are provided on both terraces for eating. Nature also provided a granite ramp that slopes up to the steps from the ground floor terrace. Granite walls retain the terraced lawns. Note that sidewalks encircle the house. They are supported on footings, beams and columns so that they cannot settle. The ground floor terrace also gives access from the living area to the back yard under seven mature shade trees. The house is completely private. Special Note: There are two professionally designed septic systems, each handling two of the four toilets in the house. Each has three digester tanks in series discharging into separate weeping beds to disperse residual liquids safely underground, making for trouble free sewage disposal throughout the future. There is a third separate disposal system for wash water. Fresh water supply to the house is free from a well that never goes dry. Nevertheless there is a dependable alternate metered water supply available at the turn of a valve. There is a third backup 500 liter water tank in the attic that can also be accessed at the turn of a valve, for short interruptions in service. So there is very secure water supply, an important factor in Phuket. |
